Pop icon Lady Gaga has revealed an ongoing battle with post-traumatic stress disorder, part of the emotional fallout from having been raped as a teenager. The singer-songwriter made the revelation during a television interview on Monday at a New York homeless shelter for gay and lesbian (LGBT) youth. “I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness — I suffer from PTSD,” said Gaga, speaking to NBC television’s Today Show programme. Two years earlier, the singer revealed on television she had been raped at age 19, an experience that left her traumatised. A gay icon who has long championed the rights of sexual minorities, Gaga, now 30, urged the youths at the Ali Forney Center shelter to find the courage to face their problems. “I don’t have the same kinds of issues that you have, but I have a mental illness, and I struggle with that mental illness every day,” she said. “I need my mantra to help keep me relaxed. You are brave. You are courageous.”...

Kanu’s trial: Pro- Biafra protesters besiege court chanting war songs

‎ABUJA – Scores of pro-Biafra protesters, on Thursday, besieged t he Federal High Court in Abuja, chanting war songs. Armed security operatives however barred the protesters from g aining access into the court room where the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu was being tried by the Federal Government. The incident occurred on a day Kanu who is facing trial a longside three other pro-Biafra agitators, Mr. Chidiebere O nwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, was denied bail by trial Justice Binta Nyako.  Shortly after the proceeding, armed operatives of the D epartment of State Service, DSS, took the defendants away from the court premises in a commando style, even as the protesters threw stones at the prison van. Pipeline Explosion: Families Of Victims Lament Neglect By Firm

The families of the victims of pipeline explosion at the Agip’s oil field in Azuzuama community in Bayelsa State have accused the company of neglect. They accused the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, operators of the oil field of being insensitive to their plights. The  News Agency of Nigeria  reports that a pipeline explosion in the Southern Ijaw Local Government community on July 9, 2015 left 14 people dead. A regulatory official of Bayelsa Ministry of Environment and National Oil Spills Detection and Response Agency was among the dead victims. According to NAN, officials of NAOC, representatives of the host community and the Bayelsa Ministry of Environment were investigating the cause of an oil spill in the area when the blast occurred.
