Pop icon Lady Gaga has revealed an ongoing battle with post-traumatic stress disorder, part of the emotional fallout from having been raped as a teenager. The singer-songwriter made the revelation during a television interview on Monday at a New York homeless shelter for gay and lesbian (LGBT) youth. “I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness — I suffer from PTSD,” said Gaga, speaking to NBC television’s Today Show programme. Two years earlier, the singer revealed on television she had been raped at age 19, an experience that left her traumatised. A gay icon who has long championed the rights of sexual minorities, Gaga, now 30, urged the youths at the Ali Forney Center shelter to find the courage to face their problems. “I don’t have the same kinds of issues that you have, but I have a mental illness, and I struggle with that mental illness every day,” she said. “I need my mantra to help keep me relaxed. The UK Embassy in Nigeria has adopted a new visa application p rocess, the British High Commission said yesterday, in a s tatement . The spokesperson of the commission, Joe Abuku, described the new process as a slight change in which "Visa staff now only n eed electronic versions of support documents." The new process, which takes effect from December 5 for c ustomers applying for a UK visa in Lagos, Victoria Island and I keja, would bring applicants benefits from digital improvements to the UK visa application process. "TLSContact (responsible for UK Visa Application Centres in N igeria) will scan your supporting documents whilst you're at t he visa application centre, and then return your original documents to you," the statement said. "They will then send these (electronic) documents to UKVI, with y our passport and application form, and visa officers will consider your application in the usual way." Ramon Oladimeji A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday convicted four companies of laundering $15.5m kept in their accounts with Skye Bank. The companies – Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development & Investment Co. Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited – are linked with a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Waripamo-Owei Dudafa. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in August frozen the accounts of the four companies and seized the $15m in the course of probing Dudafa for money laundering. But wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan had sued the EFCC and Skye Bank, claiming ownership of the $15.5m. On Thursday, Justice Babs Kuewumi convicted the four companies of laundering the $15.5m.
