CHILD TRAFFICKING; 'I lure kids with fried yam, sweets' - kidnap suspect

The Abia state police command has apprehended a kidnap suspect as well as other accomplices. A kidnap suspect identified as Roland Egbe has revealed the method he employs in luring the kids he kidnaps and traffics » . The suspect made the disclosure while being paraded by the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr Adeleye Oyebade, at the police officers mess in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Daily Post reports. Egbe revealed that he bought fried yam to attract theD two kids he allegedly stole from their parents » , which eventually led to his arrest. The suspect added that he gave the children to his friend whom he identified only as Uche , who in turn sold them to one Chioma Ohajimadu and Mrs Comfort Ogbonnaya who reside at No. 69, Ososu road, Aba. Egbe, who claims to be a ticket seller at Oyigbo in Rivers State, also revealed that Uche brought him into the child trafficking business » and urged him to kidnap a child » as he already had a buyer. FUTA VC arrested for hitting staff with car.

‎The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, has‎  reportedly been arrested by the Ondo state for hitting a s taff of the institution with his car. According to the reports, the victim, Abiodun Ademola Atunbi , who is a member of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the ‎ institution, was hit at the main campus of the school at Oba'nla in A kure on Monday, November 28. Punch reports that members of staff were reportedly gathered t ogether to pray when the incident occurred. An officer from the Okuta Elerinla Police Station is reported to have arrested Prof. Daramola not long after the accident took place. Other members of staff aggrieved by the situation reportedly staged a protest in the school, with some setting up a bonfire. The situation is made worse by the fact that the VC and the members of staff have been having misunderstandings with many c alling for his removal.

How I escaped death in Uyo church collapse that killed ‘over 50’ — Governor Emmanuel

Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has confirmed that he was inside the collapsed building at the Reigners Bible Church when the structure gave way killing ‘over 50’ and injuring several others. Mr. Emmanuel said he escaped unhurt, confirming narratives by witnesses who said Saturday that the building collapsed 30 minutes after the governor and his entourage arrived the event venue. He said despite being unhurt he remained traumatized after the incident. “I was present at the church during the incident and shared in the agony of the moment,” he said. Oyo college shut over lecturers’ strike

The Oyo State College of Agricultural Technology (OYSCATECH) in Igboora has been shut, following a 21-day strike  by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) over alleged non-payment of  salaries. The union went on the warning strike after an emergency meeting held last Thursday, following the expiration of the ultimatum given management to pay workers nine-month arrears. The union said its members had been working without pay for months, noting that many of them are dying of hunger. ASUP said it had exhausted all avenues, including goodwill, to resolve the matter, but said strike was the only language understood by the management. In its letter to the registrar signed by the chairman, Afees Adeniyi, and Secretary, Mr O.O.
