Tekno Singer finally delivers diversity with new single "RARA"

With ‘Rara’, Tekno ends the year on a high, and proving that he has more than just what has been released this year within his artistry.

Holy crap! That’s the feeling one gets as the sounds of Tekno’s latest single ‘Rara begin to filter into your ears and connect with your brain. These sounds travel through the entire brain and activates the pleasure and reward centers, which in turn give you the feel-good chemicals stumlate happiness all around you. Simply put, it owns you.

And it is on that note that he comes through with ‘Rara’. Produced by the prolific Selebobo, Tekno diversifies on this one.

Tekno Tekno

Before ‘Rara’, Tekno appeared to have one single working formula. It is this formula that has propelled him to become the prince of African music. There’s a certain method to the production of ‘Duro’, ‘Wash’, ‘Where’, ‘Pana’ and ‘Diana’ that remains consistent, even in the audio and video conceptualization; Dedicate it to a girl, use a catchword/catchphrase, and infuse humor over a mid-tempo beat. Dance for that pretty, light skinned vixen in the visual, and you will score great points.

But he has become too comfortable, and has pushed himself with new material. On ‘Rara’, he maintains the same light delivery, but embraces conscious Afrobeat as the base sound, before switching subject matter to address the corruption in Nigeria, and how much change we need to apply to experience progress. Throw in some lines about the blessing of God, and you have the first product that properly captures the diversity that a section of his fans have been screaming for.

Tekno has had a swell 2016. It’s been a great year for Tekno. Where he started off as an artiste who was under pressure to replicate the success of 2015, he is ending it with two certified hits, a MAMA award, cash in the bank, a rising profile as a star artiste on the continent, and now, a deal with Sony Music entertainment, which would make him more accessible and bankable as an artiste looking to hit new heights.
That’s a lot for a young man, who was releasing his first official single just four years ago. Where he has shown consistent pop growth in the music scene, this year, all of his hard work has paid off, granting him wins in every department. Show me another artiste who has had more wins this year in Nigeria. None.

With ‘‘Rara’ Tekno ends the year on a high, and proving that he has more than just what has been released this year within his artistry. There are already calls for a new album in 2017, and the singer no doubt has plans for that. If that happens, ‘Rara’ is a sure pick for the project.

For now, listen, appreciate his effort, and know that You Need To Hear This for the diversity that Tekno now displays.

New African Soccer in a statement, congratulated the Nigeria winger but also mentioned the competitiveness of the November award, especially in the votes ‘Victor Wanyama, also a one-time winner of the award, put up a strong showing and this was rightly justified, considering his role in Tottenham Hotspur’s early surge which made them the last to be beaten in the League.
