Uyo church building collapse: How Gov. Udom survived, over 200 dead during service

                              The Reigners Bible Church International Incorporation, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after it collapsed… on Saturday Tragedy struck in the least anticipated place, yesterday, Reigners Bible Ministry, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, after the church  building collapsed during a service.  Conflicting accounts put the death toll at between 50 and 200 while Governor Udom Emmanuel, who was present when the incident occurred, survived.  Meanwhile, no fewer than two of Udom’s commissioners and another aide were said to have been seriously injured. Senate threatens to go on strike over rerun elections

Gives INEC Dec. 10 ultimatum to conduct polls From Fred Itua, Abuja The Senate yesterday issued the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) till December 10, 2016 to conduct the pending National Assembly rerun elections in Rivers State. Failure to adhere to the ultimatum, the Senate threatened to suspend plenary. It stressed that the non-representation of the state in the National Assembly was unconstitutional and condemnable. It was reported this morning that the students of the ambrose alli universty were gathered in their numbers at the school gate in regards of the increase in school fees which was last year increased from the sum of 37,000 naira to 120,000 for fresh students as tution fees. They also had to pay an acceptance fee of 63,000 and an accomodation fee of about 17,000 naira.   summng to a total of about 200,000 naira. Troops intercept suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Borno

By Agency Reporter, Troops of 8 Task Force Division, Nigerian Army, on Thursday intercepted a group of suspected Boko Haram insurgents allegedly on a mission to loot logistics supplies in surrounding villages. Col. Sani Usman, the Director, Army Public Relations Department, made the disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen in Maiduguri. He said that the troops were patrolling the Monguno-Brimari road when the incident occurred. "On sighting the patrol, the insurgents engaged the troops in a shootout that lasted for about fifteen minutes before they were overpowered by the superior fire power of the patrol. "In the encounter, 2 insurgents were neutralised and their weapons including one FN rifle loaded with a magazine of 10 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK 47 rifle with 3 magazines were captured. "Also recovered from the insurgents were 2 motorcycles, drugs, wrappers and clothes," the statement said.
