Ifedolapo Oladepo, a graduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), arrived at the NYSC orientation camp in Kano, but things took an unexpected turn when she took ill. Soldiers in different camps generally have a culture of trying to instil what they claim to be discipline into "bloody civilian" corps. members. Alleged N1.4 billion fraud: How OAU Vice-Chancellor got into trouble

The acting Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Anthony Elujoba, who is under investigation over alleged diversion of N1.4 billion of the university's fund, ran into trouble by drawing the remunerations of a substantive holder of his office, investigations  have revealed. Mr. Elujoba and the university's bursar, Aderonke Akeredolu, were on Tuesday in Ibadan quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the allegation. He was appointed acting vice-chancellor for a period of six months with effect from July 21. According to the terms and conditions of the appointment as approved by the Federal Government, Mr. Elujoba's fringe benefits include N120,000 monthly as furniture allowance. Investigations however revealed that part of the allegations against him in a petition to the EFCC was that he received over N7 million as advance payment of the allowance for the five-year tenure of a substantive vice-chancellor. UK adopts new visa application process for Nigerians

The UK Embassy in Nigeria has adopted a new visa application p rocess, the British High Commission said yesterday, in a s tatement . The spokesperson of the commission, Joe Abuku, described the new process as a slight change in which "Visa staff now only‎ n eed electronic versions of support documents." The new process, which takes effect from December 5 for c ustomers applying for a UK visa in Lagos, Victoria Island and I keja, would bring applicants benefits from digital improvements to the UK visa application process. "TLSContact (responsible for UK Visa Application Centres in N igeria) will scan your supporting documents whilst you're at t he visa application centre, and then return your original documents to you," the statement said. "They will then send these (electronic) documents to UKVI, with y our passport and application form, and visa officers will consider your application in the usual way." FUTA VC arrested for hitting staff with car.

‎The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, has‎  reportedly been arrested by the Ondo state for hitting a s taff of the institution with his car. According to the reports, the victim, Abiodun Ademola Atunbi , who is a member of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of the ‎ institution, was hit at the main campus of the school at Oba'nla in A kure on Monday, November 28. Punch reports that members of staff were reportedly gathered t ogether to pray when the incident occurred. An officer from the Okuta Elerinla Police Station is reported to have arrested Prof. Daramola not long after the accident took place. Other members of staff aggrieved by the situation reportedly staged a protest in the school, with some setting up a bonfire. The situation is made worse by the fact that the VC and the members of staff have been having misunderstandings with many c alling for his removal.
