Uyo church building collapse: How Gov. Udom survived, over 200 dead during service

                              The Reigners Bible Church International Incorporation, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, after it collapsed… on Saturday Tragedy struck in the least anticipated place, yesterday, Reigners Bible Ministry, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, after the church  building collapsed during a service.  Conflicting accounts put the death toll at between 50 and 200 while Governor Udom Emmanuel, who was present when the incident occurred, survived.  Meanwhile, no fewer than two of Udom’s commissioners and another aide were said to have been seriously injured. An unconfirmed report said one of the aides died.  Journalists were also said to be among the victims.  Eye witnesses said the building, under construction, collapsed around 11 am, about 30 minutes into the programme to enthrone the church founder, Apostle Akan Weeks, as bishop. The Abia state police command has apprehended a kidnap suspect as well as other accomplices. A kidnap suspect identified as Roland Egbe has revealed the method he employs in luring the kids he kidnaps and traffics » . Troops intercept suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Borno

By Agency Reporter, Troops of 8 Task Force Division, Nigerian Army, on Thursday intercepted a group of suspected Boko Haram insurgents allegedly on a mission to loot logistics supplies in surrounding villages. Col. Sani Usman, the Director, Army Public Relations Department, made the disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen in Maiduguri. He said that the troops were patrolling the Monguno-Brimari road when the incident occurred. "On sighting the patrol, the insurgents engaged the troops in a shootout that lasted for about fifteen minutes before they were overpowered by the superior fire power of the patrol. "In the encounter, 2 insurgents were neutralised and their weapons including one FN rifle loaded with a magazine of 10 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one AK 47 rifle with 3 magazines were captured. "Also recovered from the insurgents were 2 motorcycles, drugs, wrappers and clothes," the statement said.

The UK Embassy in Nigeria has adopted a new visa application p rocess, the British High Commission said yesterday, in a s tatement . The spokesperson of the commission, Joe Abuku, described the new process as a slight change in which "Visa staff now only‎ n eed electronic versions of support documents." The new process, which takes effect from December 5 for c ustomers applying for a UK visa in Lagos, Victoria Island and I keja, would bring applicants benefits from digital improvements to the UK visa application process.
