The Abia state police command has apprehended a kidnap suspect as well as other accomplices. A kidnap suspect identified as Roland Egbe has revealed the method he employs in luring the kids he kidnaps and traffics » . The suspect made the disclosure while being paraded by the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr Adeleye Oyebade, at the police officers mess in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Daily Post reports. The acting Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Anthony Elujoba, who is under investigation over alleged diversion of N1.4 billion of the university's fund, ran into trouble by drawing the remunerations of a substantive holder of his office, investigations  have revealed. Mr. Elujoba and the university's bursar, Aderonke Akeredolu, were on Tuesday in Ibadan quizzed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the allegation. He was appointed acting vice-chancellor for a period of six months with effect from July 21. According to the terms and conditions of the appointment as approved by the Federal Government, Mr. Elujoba's fringe benefits include N120,000 monthly as furniture allowance. Nigerians have been thrown into a sudden anxiety following a decision by promoters of deposit money scheme, MMM, to suspend new payouts to subscribers. The members woke up  on Tuesday  morning to a disclaimer on the scheme's website informing them of the move. But the promoters of the scheme it won't go burst just yet, adding that the setback will only last for a month. The MMM is a deposit money scheme that market analysts said remained highly suspicious. The scheme draws from investments of later investors to pay off earlier ones. Despite repeated  warnings by the government for Nigerians to desist  from investing their money, the subscriber base of the scheme has continued to boom. But the MMM said the move was only to prepare its system for intense activities ahead as part of its preparation for a new year, which arrives in less than three weeks. Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has confirmed that he was inside the collapsed building at the Reigners Bible Church when the structure gave way killing ‘over 50’ and injuring several others. Mr. Emmanuel said he escaped unhurt, confirming narratives by witnesses who said Saturday that the building collapsed 30 minutes after the governor and his entourage arrived the event venue. He said despite being unhurt he remained traumatized after the incident. “I was present at the church during the incident and shared in the agony of the moment,” he said. In a state broadcast Saturday, the governor said after the incident, he “personally supervised rescue operations and evacuation of the injured to the hospital.” “I directed all emergency organizations, agencies of government and corporate organizations especially the construction companies to be involved in the exercise,” the governor said. “They acted promptly and I commend their sense of patriotism and gallantry.” Mr. Emma

The number of casualty is unknown at the time of filing this report. A twin bomb blast has reportedly occurred in Maiduguri,  Borno State  capital. According to Premium Times, the explosions rocked the city's main market on Sunday, December 10 at about 8:48 a.m. The blasts were said to have occurred in quick succession. Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations officer,  Victor Isuku , said it happened near Old NEPA office not far from Monday market. Eyewitnesses reportedly said the attacked area was crowded. With rescue workers being mobilised to the site, the number of casualty is unknown at the time of filing this report. An unconfirmed report said one of the aides died.  Journalists were also said to be among the victims.  Eye witnesses said the building, under construction, collapsed around 11 am, about 30 minutes into the programme to enthrone the church founder, Apostle Akan Weeks, as bishop. The Lagos State University computer science graduate proudly revealed this to Bill Gates during a television interview for Africa’s brightest young entrepreneurs in August 2016. Kwekowe, who won the 2015 Anzisha Prize which came with a $25,000 cheque, said he rejected the offer to build up his own startup, Slatecube– a website aimed at helping other young Nigerians find jobs.  " When I told him, Gates was intrigued and he smiled.
